Unfortunately, the majority of eggs you can buy from your supermarket will be factory farmed in some way (whether they say free range, cage free, natural, fresh, barn-laid), but some will adhere to more humane standards than others. For example, they may choose to give the chickens more space, not lock them in individual cages, not feed them drugs or hormones, or allow them to spend more time outdoors and exhibit natural behaviours.
After much research it was very hard to find eggs that were 100% humane, so if anything it would be best to not eat eggs at all, deciding to cut them out of your diet would mean you were not supporting any kind of chicken mistreatment.
BUT if eggs must be eaten I would suggest not eating Pace farm eggs, Eco Eggs (these companies sell a range of eggs including caged, so if you buy even the free range you are still giving money to a company who cages its chickens). Try going to your local health food store or farmers markets and buying from there, because supermarket tend to supply eggs from mass produced farms.
Try eggs that are accredited by the Free Range Farmers Association, who inspect the farms to ensure they comply with all standards. If you can find the brand Freeranger Eggs they are great, with the hens never locked up and fed natural diets. Also, Ovaston Organics do not have cages, chemicals or de-beaking, they are available at Organic Food Network in Brookvale (also do home delivery), Martelli's Fruit Market in Epping, and Abundant Organics in Emi Plains which deliver to Sydney Metro area and surrounds.
